The Cheshire East Cycling Campaign (CECC) is a federation of groups wishing to promote cycling for transport and leisure, mindful of its positive impacts on health/wellbeing, the environment and building a community spirit.
The role of CECC
- To act as a single point of contact between the new Council and the cycling community in Cheshire East.
- Encourage communication between the individual cycling groups.
- Identify borough-wide cycling issues on which the groups should co-ordinate their activities.
- To promote cycling in all its forms.
The Structure of CECC
- CECC aims to have at least one representative from each of the cycling action organisations in Cheshire East.
A chairperson shall be elected every 12 months from these constituent groups.
- Individual groups will retain their own identities and conduct their own activities - albeit co-ordinated with other CECC members where appropriate.
- Personal membership is with the individual local groups rather than CECC.
Meetings
- The CECC Steering Group will meet approximately quarterly.
The aims (as of 2009) are to campaign for:-
- Appointment of an executive officer at a senior level to be a Council Cycling Officer as per Cheshire West and Chester.
- Appointment of a "Cycling Champion" Council Member.
- Establishment of a Cycle Forum for officers, members, the police and CECC to meet at regular intervals to establish policy and action for cycling.
- "National Standard" cycle training for adults and children throughout Cheshire East.
A commitment to develop a budget for a cycling strategy/action-plan for Cheshire East
Cheshire East to develop a cycle infrastructure in line with the recently issued Cycle Infrastructure Design guidance http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roads/tpm/ltnotes/
