Who We Are?

MaccBUG was formed in 1999 to represent the interests of all types of cyclists and potential cyclists in the Borough of Macclesfleld.

With the abolition of the Borough in April 2009 MaccBUG is being superseded by  town based groups such as CycleWilmslow and CycleStockport.  These will feed into the umbrella group called Cheshire East Cycling Campaign.

Our Aims/Purpose

MaccBUG seeks to:

• Repesent the views of cycle users in the area.
• Promote cycling as a leisure activity and a means of transport.
• Work with Borough/County Council Officers, Councillors and other bodies to achieve these goals.
• Act as a "watchdog" to ensure that cycling is given due consideration by these Councillors and Officers.

The Area MaccBUG Covers:

The Borough of Macclesfield is in N.E. Cheshire and covers Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Knutsford, Poynton, Mobberley, Disley and Bollington. The total population is 150,000.

CycleWilmslow will cover Wilmslow, Handforth, Aldelrey Edge, Styal and Morley.

CycleKnutsford covers Knutsford and district (including Mobberley)

CycleMacclesfield will cover the Macclesfield district. 

When We Meet

MaccBUG holds 2-3 meetings per year, normally in Macclesfield, Wilmslow or Bollington.

It also has representation at the quarterely Macclesfield Borough Cycle Panel meetings held at Macclesfield Town Hall. These meetings are open to anyone with an interest in cycling.
