A lovely 10km (6 mile) ride that mostly avoids roads with motor traffic.

Start at Lindow Common in Wilmslow. Suitable for most bikes.

Macclesfield, Teggs Nose, Macclesfield Forest Circuit

A more challenging 10.5km (7 mile) ride in beautiful scenery  - lots of ups and downs. Best suited to a mountain bike or a rugged hybrid.  Starts and ends in central Macclesfield but feel free to adapt it.

An easy-going 11km (7 mile) circuit from central Wilmslow along country roads through Morley Green and Mobberley.

The ride skirts the edge of Lindow Moss and is almost entirely on road.

Macclesfield Forest Circular

This ride starts near Gawsworth and does a loop through the beautiful Macclesfield Forest. It would be easy to change the start/finish location. This ride will be hilly in places.

A 19km (12 mile) ride for mountain bikers in/around Teggs Nose Country Park, Macclesfield.

Weaver Wanderer Ride

A pleasant 18km (11 mile) route in the Winford and Whitegate area of Vale Royal. Part of this is on the Whitegate Way - a former railway line.

An 8 mile trail along a former railway route between Macclesfield and Marple.

Higher Poynton and Lyme Park Circular 

A pleasant ride with 1 climb into Lyme Park. One busy section along the A6 Buxton Road.

You can stop off at Lyme Park to have a picnic  - look out for the red deer.

A short ride to the lovely National Trust property.

Handforth to Bruntwood Park and Cheadle Royal

A 3 mile (each way) ride that is mainly off-road. Bruntwood Park offers a Cafe, pitch and put golf, BMX track, meadows, playgrounds and a duck pond. It is operated by Stockport MBC. You will also see lots of planes on approach to (or take off from) the airport.

Cheshire County Council has launched a DVD:
